Colin, the 645D *is* coming to the US.

I think it will get plenty of use in studios as well. The removable backs were nice in the studio when film had to be changed, but they offer no clear advantages today. And even in the days of film, the Pentax 6x7 was very popular with NY fashion photogs. Their assistants, who had to load the beasts, didn't like them, but they were present in large numbers.

I would anticipate a rise in prices.
Think about the target audience for this camera -- the studio.
It is not likely to be a field camera.
This will compete against the high-$$ backs for the 'blads,
the high-end Canon DSLR, and the 4x5 scanning backs.

Just mount this to an adapter on a 4x5 and
use those nice lenses for tilt & shift.
Imagine a nice Rodenstock 58mm or Super Symmar XL 110mm and
now a large enough sense for some nice DOF-controlling tilt
in a portrait like those old 1930s Hollywood glamor shots.

This thing will certainly be gray-marketed into the US very quickly.

As a result I expect your lens values to rise,
especially if you are willing to sell them overseas.
(I have no problem selling them to PROC,
just to bring back some of our $$.)

Sincerely,

Collin Brendemuehl
