Needs an intel processor and OS 10.5

i have an Intel Mac running 10.5, but i'm still running Office 2004 because there's been nothing special about the new Office (and i only run Excel or Word a few times a year); so i'd suggest looking for Office 2004 used, such as on Craigslist; alternatively, OpenOffice 3 has PowerPC builds; i believe you'd want "OOo_3.2.1rc2_20100527_MacOS_PPC_install_en-US.dmg" from this page:

OpenOffice is just as obscenely complicated as Office, but i've had good results working with its word processing and spreadsheet apps; another option if you have reliable internet service is Google Docs, which has import/export from/to Office formats; i've used Google Docs quite a bit and had overall good results, only occasional quirks
