I can certainly comment on Magento Community Edition. I was seduced by its beauty and bought a commercial template for it. The site is indeed running and working, but it is an absolute nightmare to maintain. I can't upgrade to the latest version because there were substantial changes made in the way the templates work. v1.3 templates need major changes to work with v1.4. If you are looking for something NOT time-intensive then stay away from Magento.
Also look for a community that provides answers when you have questions. Magento is horrible on that score since the parent development company (Varien) split it into Enterprise and Community Editions. They want you to purchase support, not get it for free. Therefore only users provide answers and users only look at the forums when they WANT answers. Fewer people give them. I recommended PrestaShop because it is the closest to Magento as far as good looks is concerned and reputedly easier to use. I'll let you know after I set up a specialty bookstore for my wife with it. : ) -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
