This is a bad analogy. COBOL programmers are much in demand in certain sectors. Yes, very little really new code is written in COBOL however most large financial systems are written in COBOL. They are very expensive to replace and continue to undergo maintance, new releases are regularly made available. Even if you don't actually program in COBOL some knowledge of it is often necessary when dealing with these institutions. If film goes the way of COBOL then it will always be with us. (At least as long as technical civilization lasts). >Collin > >----------Original------------ >From: "William Robb" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > >- ----- Original Message ----- >From: "Shel Belinkoff" > > > This article about digital cameras was forwarded to me, and, >for the > > first time, I began to feel that my gear and the way I like to > > photograph is coming to the end of the line. > >Personally, I think film will be around for a long time yet. ><snip> >And, like zealots from times previous, they will continue to >trot out their silly little arguements and rationalizations, >while the rest of the world quietly goes on shooting film and >enjoying the creative process of producing true photographic >images. > >William Robb > > >-- > >----------------------- >"Get over it." > Dr. Laura > >-- >- >This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
