This is just a snapshot.  There is so much more I'd like to do with
this idea if I can.

Every night around sunset, it seems that every crow in Minneapolis
comes to a four-block area near downtown Minneapolis to roost.

I've seen them as I drive by - it's fascinating to watch them all
flocking in from everywhere as the sun sets.

Thing of it is... they are keenly aware of photographers approaching
with tripods.  They were quite skittish.

What I ended up with was a photo of the 1/3 of them that hadn't left
by the time I had set the tripod down

..and when I was shooting, I didn't notice they were on the trees
further back, so I have some revisiting to do so I can place the
camera properly.  If there was some way to stabilize the camera for a
15-second exposure without using the tripod, I would.

Any chance you could get set up in place and conceal the tripod with a blind before they get there one evening?
