Well, Paul, f/2 is not too shabby for speed, and is certainly faster
than any 90mm macro I've ever seen (or you've recommended).  Plus, I
think the 85/2 has better bokeh than some of the macros (which
sometimes have a rather harsh bokeh).

The 85/2 ~is~ a nice little lens to use, though, just as you have
mentioned. In any event, it has, in my humble opinion (and I've had
the chance to compare two samples of this critter against a number
of other 85mm lenses), been unduly maligned. I think it's a pretty
good little portrait lens, all in all.
