Yeah, I thought about that as I was composing the response. The difference, for me anyway, is that even though the Mac is pretty locked-down, too --not really, though -- the Apple people seem to understand human beings better, to know what they're looking for, what will work for them. Everything works. Straight out of the box. It's unobtrusive. In contrast, MS's attempts to be "helpful" almost always irritated the hell out of me.
