I don't think the flexible rubber jar opener will work for this job. The polarizer is designed to turn freely. You're really going to have to find a filter wrench.

Note to self - you were right all along in that filters are devilish little 
thingies and you should stay as far from them as humanly possible. Seriously 
though I don't see the attraction but maybe I am just fooled by the few bad 
experiences I have had during the years.
