I don't see a lot to criticize here. It's a good photo of a tough subject. I guess there are few lonelier places for a down-and-outer than a big city (maybe that's Ann's irony?) and if that's what you set out to capture, you've done it very well. Personally, I'd have probably converted it to monochrome, but it certainly works as presented.
