Interesting. I don't think the pound is worth as much compared to the dollar
as it was back then. I paid $320 in '78 for a black MX and 50/1.7 and that
was heavily discounted. Today I would estimate the cost at 3x that. If I put
the money in a bank account I still wouldn't be able to buy it, and I would
not have used it for ten years and gotten half my money back. Moral, buy
what you want when you have the chance, it's cheaper and you get to enjoy it
while you are waiting.
