The only reason I didn't buy a K-x (and, later, the slightly
better K-r) was that I had my eyes firmly set on a K-5.

Until then I 'made do' with the good old K10D, backed up with
the *ist-D.

If I were buying a new Pentax body today, my choices would be:

o K-5 (if the money was available)

 o K-r if on a tighter budget

Failing that, I'd look at the used market. There are probably
a few K-x users who have upgraded to the K-r, which would make
that a way to get astounding performance at a cheaper price.
