I think it would be very difficult to put together 24 pictures of high enough quality on any subject. The RPS distinctions require 10, 15 then 20 pictures in a portfolio for you to move through the different levels of distinction, and it really is hard to get a coherent essay of high enough quality. Have a look at some essays in National Geographic and count the number of photos - it's rarely that many. 24 is very ambitious - you might be better advised to choose several different subjects and make a book of several smaller essays.
