The K-5's performance in low light situations made the previous Pentaxes I had sort of obsolete for shooting plays and musicals. The sensor's lack of noise at high ISO was probably the thing. It is the first Pentax dSLR (and I have nearly all of them, dating back to the *istD) what I would consider a "flagship" camera.
