G'day all

If anyone is interested in cloud storage, this offer from Box.com looks good:

I've been using Box lightly for a few years and it works well. Normally the
free account is 5GB (Dropbox's free account is 2GB)

i've had an account for about three years; i am not enthusiastic about Box.net, but it's okay if you just want to stash some files somewhere

there is a desktop app, but for those who are wondering, it is nothing like Dropbox; it doesn't really sync at all, it just lets you manually upload & download files, either via the app or by dragging to a browser window

the in-browser uploads are pretty limited — can't upload folders just one or more individual files (maybe that Flash thing does folders, i don't have Flash installed); other differences from Dropbox are that it doesn't track file versions, it doesn't provide slideshows, it doesn't let you publish a website by uploading a set of HTML files

in short it is a glorified FTP service: you have to manually keep track of how your Box files relate to files on your computer; it does have some collaboration features, but heck if you want collaboration, try Trello

by the way, the email address i used *only* to log into box.net receives spam fairly often, so i don't trust them to keep my files secure if they can't keep my email address secure; i've just created another account with a new address, so i'll let it rest for a few months to see if that one gets spammed too
