News says there are 172,000 homes without power in the Boston area. We're (obviously) not one of them. All the power lines in our neighborhood are underground. Of course, if they're fed from lines that are above ground and *those* get taken out we're still stuck...
It seems there are huge variations in storm intensity within relatively short distances. It hasn't seemed too ferocious here so far but a friend less than 4 miles away reported it as being very frightening just a short while ago.
