I seriously doubt that he was allowed any say whatsoever into the function of the camera, mechanical, electrical or software. Pentax would have gone to him with a working prototype (in terms of parts and features) and then asked him to repackage it in an interesting way. Let's face it, the K-01is a DSLR with unnecessary bits taken off and nothing new added so there was likely never any chance that it would get an EVF or OVF for that matter since that would add to the cost.
