It is indeed an expensive endeavor.  Many of the balloons are owned or
sponsored by corporations, and they travel all over the country at
various festivals and fairs.  When he was still alive, Malcom Forbes
had his own balloon, advertising Forbes magazine, in the shape of a
French chateau.

The Festival employs about 1500 people for the balloon activities, the
rock concerts several times each day, and the 150 vendor booths.  A
local college estimated that the festival brings $42 million into the
local economy, ad the fire companies and other civic groups raise
money parking cars and doing other things at the festival.
