Any idea where the user preferences are stored? I doubt that's the
issue because I have both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Photoshop
installed and they both show the same problem even though their user
preferences are clearly independent. I tried the 32-bit version and
all its preferences are at the installed defaults yet it still
exhibits the same symptoms.

For reference, I've been using only the HDR pre-sets that are included
with Photoshop (particularly Scott Kelby's "Scott5" pre-set) and they
consistently show the same kind of problem as the baseline default.
