I can't speak to whether the cartridge will work OK or not.

But if you request a refund for an inexpensive product like this,
stating that it was defective (expired), the odds are good that Amazon
or the third-party seller will just refund your money without having
you send it back. They don't want the hassle or expense of dealing
with the return, either.
