Leica may well be a fine product, but there can be no denying that they are irrationally priced as a prestige item. I bought an ME Super kit some time ago and to my amazement it came in a leather Leica M Bag. Looking at eBay - these bags sell for $150 to $200 or more, in mint condition. Unfortunately, mine had a "Hello, my name is...." sticker slapped on it years ago that is permanently affixed and ruins the value...

But from a functional basis - this is a $25 bag new, and a cheaper used. And I'd rather have nylon than leather, frankly. But people will pay $150 to $200 for this bag for that red dot...

I was going to use this bag for my Q kit but then I thought that that damn red dot would make my Q (which no-one in their right mind would want to steal) a number-1 target for thiefs. So this is just a useless piece of cowhide and cardboard. I need to find the Hello Kitty Q bag instead...

I can never understand all the whinging over Leica prices. Sure, the T is
pricey—what's the big deal? No one forces you to buy it. The issue seems to be
that everyone one WANTS a Leica, they're just not willing to pay the premium
required.

Why? Well in my experience, Leica simply makes better cameras than most of the
other guys. The fact that they charge for them is a point of aggravation to
those who want one but can't afford it.

I've got five Leica bodies and fourteen Leica lenses. If I had to sell all of
my camera equipment, they'd be the last things to go, excepting the Hasselblad
SWC.

I'm sure this will annoy the Ricoh-Pentaxian-Fujistis on this list, but I've
got my fireproof suit on (permanently), flame away... :-)
