Hi Wendy,
I, as a challenge, replaced the mirror foam and my latest Spotmatic F.
It had the same problem as yours.
I went to a hardware store and found some light weather stripping. It it
was grey and fairly open and not dense. I memoved the old foam with tweasers
and a plastic cuticle tool from my wife's nail kit (she is away and there
doesn't care). Be real careful to avoid getting the foam on the screen. Hold
the camera upside down in strong light. I did it in the patio. Use the
tweasers so remove anything you stir up.
The foam came off the mirror with alcohol and cuetips. You need to be
real careful as it is easy to damage the mirror. The mirror came out
sparkling.
I carefully measured up my requirement and, using a razor knife, cut a
piece measuring about 3 mm wide and 35 mm long. I then cut the thickness
down to about 4 mm and peeled the backing off and put it into place. All too
easy!
Total cost 6.00, including petrol, and I have enough foam for about 1500
repairs.
