My machine is a similar sweet-spot machine from 5 years ago (Core i7-930, 4 cores) and it handles 16 MP files quite comfortably (I feel no pressure to upgrade for photo processing). I would have thought a corresponding present-day machine would be fine with files 2.6x larger. (Though maybe we have different requirements here? I don't care about import or export times, when I can be doing something else. My main concern is responsiveness during editing.) > I'd rather have a 24-36mp FF sensor with better high ISO response and faster > frame rate than a 41mp sensor with about the K-3's ISO response and slower > frame rate. Thing is, Pentax has to pick from available sensors. If the available 24-36 MP parts are not backside-illuminated (I don't recall seeing any such sensors), then the 41 MP may match them in terms of noise on a per-pixel basis (and trounce them if downsampled to the same pixel count). -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
