Wikipedia says the first APS-C BSI sensor was Samsung's in the NX1, introduced in Fall 2014. I'm not aware of a Sony APS-C BSI sensor yet (weird that they went straight to FF). http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/news-events/press-releases/detail?newsId=13683 > Or, I suppose you could consider it a 10MP Foveon sensor, because at 10MP > every site has the full bayer array. Yes, I think that's one of the key drivers of higher pixel densities. Once the densities are high enough, all the messiness of aliasing, Bayer arrays, demosaicking, etc. kind of goes away. There may be other advances in sharpening and noise reduction once the optical PSF is well sampled. > There are other features that I care more about than resolution: > A histogram of raw data > More focus points that each cover a smaller area so my camera will focus on > musicians rather than the microphone. Agree on all counts, but especially those two for me. Another clever, and eminently possible, thing I'd like to see is automatic calibration of lens microfocus adjustment. Set up the camera facing a target, and let the camera automatically find the best microadjustment via comparison with the CDAF system. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
