Ya know, there are a number of people who dismiss the m85/2.0, but
what's most interesting is that those who give it its highest marks are
often those who have used it alongside other Pentax 85mm lenses, and are
able to truly see its value and function relative to all the others.

I've not been to Stan's site in a while, and don't recall what negative
comments others have said about this lens, but, while it's not as
"sharp" as the behemoth fast-glass 85mm lenses, it's small size, light
weight, good resolution, great bokeh, and gentle characteristics make it
an almost perfect "portrait" lens.

Here's a suggestion: instead of reading tests and what others have to
say about this lens, or any piece of equipment, wrap your little fingers
around the barrel and use it. Decide for yourself if it's suited to
your needs. I've numerous 85mm lenses, and while the A*85/1.4 may be
"better" than the K85/1.8, and the K85/1.8 "better" than the M85/2.0,
they all have a place and a use, they each have their own unique
characteristics. You have to decide what characteristics are most
important. I'd be most reluctant to give up any of them. But if I had
to give up one, it would not be the M85/2.0
