i see — i haven't installed a newer version of Adobe Reader in a while, since i open PDFs in Apple's apps 90% of the time, and use Acrobat Pro for the rest
As for Skype: unfortunately, switching to other alternatives is not always possible: a bunch of long-distance collaborators are stuck with Skype.
understood — Skype was an expectation at my work a few years ago; but then Microsoft Word was an expectation for a couple of decades and i've managed to get past it
if i really had to use Skype again, i'd probably run it in a Windows virtual machine and turn it on only when needed
