Go down to the drug store and try various reading glasses. The distance you
want to focus at is about one meter. If you are wearing your glasses to take
pictures check them out over your glasses.

When you find the one that works best order the diopter nearest that.
Unforturnately camera diopters only come in unit amouts +1, +2,  +3, etc. so
you can't get a 2.25 for instance unless you have your optician grind up a
custom one for you.

Your regular bifocal diopter would be too strong as bifocals are intended
for reading at 15 inches or so.
