following this thread because i'm planning to do the same (from my 4
year old k5iis though). some of my friends who have it are raving about
the images it produces but the battery size/life is holding me back. the
other option i'm seriously considering is a k3.

why don't you go ahead and buy the kp? perhaps ricoh *will* release a
new flagship model :)
