Let's agree that the demise of Kodachrome was totally due to the invent of digital photography. I used Kodachrome and Velvia exclusively in my outdoor photography and didn't look back when digital hit the streets.
The advantages of digital far out weigh the plusses of film IMO.

I used to like Kodachrome, only used it on special occasions, which
probably contributed to it's demise, and I've used a number of film
filters for Photoshop etc., which are supposed to duplicate the look.
They don't some are close but none are really perfect, and it's nearly
impossible to project an auditorium filling display with anything else
that's that cost effective.
