OOPS...this was supposed to go to the list...

I still occasionally wear my Omega Speedmaster Professional - the
Moonwatch - that I bought in the mid-1970s when I was flying charter.
I figured if it was good enough for NASA it was good enough for me.
Mostly, though, now I wear a Fitbit smart watch because: a) it lets me
monitor my exercise and b) my health insurance company gives me a new
one every two years.

I thought the reviewer was more than a bit pretentious.
We're talking about dropping $11,000 on a watch that isn't any more
accurate than a $20 electronic Timex, and less accurate than a cell
phone which gets its time base off of a GPS satellite, pretentious
isn't a surprise, it's a requirement.
I haven't watched the video, but it's not pretentious to like nice
well-made things, especially things like craftsman-made watches which
embody a certain amount of tradition. People who appreciate nice
cameras should understand that.
Nevertheless, I have some nice watches (none of them are in the Rolex
league) but since I started wearing a Garmin smart watch I haven't
worn any of the nice ones. It's not about accuracy of time-keeping -
nobody really needs atomic-clock standard accuracy in everyday life -
but the other stuff that a smart watch is good at. But if I want to
bling it up I'll wear one of the nice watches.
