Cool, man. Looks great. Must feel good to be back in business.

Rather than discuss the theft and the gone bike, I'd rather focus on the new
bike and the joy of riding, the wonderful folks I know from the bicycling
world. It's pretty amazing how great these folks are.
As I mentioned in my last note on this topic, Wednesday, March 11, 2020, was
build day for the new bicycle. My buddy Jake (manager at the local bike shop,
Summit Bicycles), built the new machine—coming in on his day off to do the job
for me! Here he is presenting me with the finished build for the first time:

He did a superb job on the build. We spent a little time fussing with seat
height, bar and control adjustments, etc. Then I walked home and dropped off
the camera and the other junk I didn't need, I changed, then walked back and
picked the bike up. I couldn't go straight home … I rode the bike up to
Cupertino and visited my friends at another bike shop there, Trail Head
Cyclery. They're the folks who built my custom wheels, and will build the
wheels for this bike again. From there a nice ride back home and I stopped for
a first day beauty shot of the bike parked outside the condo.

It's a beautiful machine and amazing to ride! Weight is around 28lbs with these
wheels; the new wheels will drop that a pound or two. I'm fussing over some
details on it today … fitted my saddle bag, the Garmin bicycle computer and
sensors, etc. I'm waiting for the postman to drop off the different handlebars
I bought for it (these were my first try and they're a little too high, I need
flat bars).
I'm happy. :-)

I have it on very credible word that my beautiful bicycle was sold and resold
three times on the day it was stolen, and chopped for parts by that same
evening. It doesn't exist any more. :(
The good news is that my insurance company acted quickly, positively, and
settled the claim I made for the theft within 48 hours. I've just deposited the
settlement check today. IN the week and a half since the theft and the notice
of the claim settlement, I've acquired a new frame (Salsa Beargrease frame set)
and all the parts to build a new bike have been received by my friends at the
local dealership. The new bike will be built tomorrow. :)
I'd meant to send a thank you to everyone who offered their condolences and
support on this and other forums, but honestly haven't been in my right mind
until just yesterday-today. I've been documenting the process on FaceBook, for
those who follow me there. My apologies; thank you all for your kindness and
notes of support. I really appreciate it.
This was a terrible time, it ripped my guts out. I'd rather not discuss it
further, need to put it all into the past.
Thanks!
