Friday we took a trip to New Castle, Delaware; about 35 miles / 56 km southwest from Philly, down the Delaware River.
We learned that in Colonial times, which was also the tail end of the “Little Ice Age,” New Castle was the port closest to Philadelphia, as ther river often froze in Philly. It’s a beautiful, and nicely preserved and restored, 18th century town. A plants/books/crafts sale was open on the town green when we visited. https://rickwomer.smugmug.com/2021/May-2021/New-Castle-DE/ A few more pics are forthcoming.
