We're almost having this kind of situatin with the banks of the Rhine being a few times wider than usual and areas which are normally under several meters of water now high and dry. The authorities here in Cologne are warning people not to go there as they keep finding pieces of unexploded ordnance. As a teenager in the late 1960s, I've dug out the head of a water mine sitting in the sand, not knowing what that funny thing with those little tentacles might be.
