Wendy,

The Metz 3xx adapters originated in the times of analogue flash dedication
and only support functions such as auto x-synch setting of the camera, basic
TTL metering, flash ready and correct flash exposure signals in the camera
viewfinder. The more advanced functions that came with digital flash
dedication and which involve complex communications between camera and
flashgun are enabled by 3xxx series adapters. These functions include, in
addition to those of the earlier adapter series, motor zooming of the flash
reflector (where available) to match the lens focal length, and variable
ambient to fill-flash ratios, and I'm certain a lot of other functions I've
never heard of.

Regards,
Anthony Farr
