Thanks, John & Larry.

I don't bother much with the usual run-off-the mill game shots any more - they tend to get rather overdone!  John, South Africa is a cheap destination with the current exchange rate. The Kruger Park with self-drive is very affordable compared with the posh private game reserves & lodges. Much cheaper than East Africa & Botswana. In fact, all organised tours are very expensive.  We get a lot of tourists particularly from the Netherlands coming through Phalaborwa every year in hired Campervans, sometimes in mini-convoys.

Much cooler today after 3 days of almost 40°C - unheard off in Sept. Hopefully we won't hit 50 in Summer.

Yes, nice images, I particularly like the zebras because it is unusual.

Nice. I don't think I'm ever going to get to Africa to photograph.

I want to, but life isn't cooperating ...
This sentence describes so much of what is going on in my life.

We decided to drive north in the Kruger Park yesterday. Unfortunately it turned out
to be a very hot, uncomfortable day. The first image is a distant shot at 300mm of
a Maribou Stork apparently arguing with it's shadow at Pioneer Dam below Mopani
Camp where we had lunch. With the very dry prevailing conditions, the Dam is a
magnet for parched wildlife. Many Elephants, Wildebeest, Zebras & Impalas were
in evidence with a smattering of others plus a lot of waterfowl. The other image
(Scroll R) is of Zebras drinking from a waterhole dug by Elephants in a riverbed.
Elephants have the advantage of a trunk!
