1) MEMORY MEMORY MEMORY ... an 80 Mpixel image will consume most of 256MB of memory at 24-bit color, and the best part of 512MB at 48-bit. I'd say 1GB of memory is the lowest level you'd want to look at. 2) A bloody great hard drive, for the same reasons. A 40GB drive will only hold about 150 80Mpixel images at 24-bit color, half that at 48-bit color. 3) A DVD-R or DVD-RW drive for archiving the raw scans, if you're going to do that.
