An adendum to ring light use: Ringlights dont necessarily provide full and even illumination really close to the lens. This will show up if using short focal lengths, especially reversed. Make sure that you stay outside of the minimum coverage distance. Or, rig some sort of reflector out of a pie plate to go onto the ringlight.
