One of the great failings of this, imo, is that we see pictures
from completely different mediums and think we are making a
valid comparison.
Unfortunately, the only fair comparison would be to take the
negative and make a high quality optical print and compare it to
a high quality print made from the digital camera.
It seems to me that scanning a negative is going to lead to some
loss of quality over printing the negative the way it was meant
to be printed.
