I have a small d-link AP and would prefer to not have to buy something
else any time soon. The ap is allowed to give IPs to a certain range of
ips and such. Am thinking that after this happens, that the dhcp server
would then prompt the user to login via the web browser.

I'll look into these projects that you mentioned.
