This should more correctly be called component relocation because components matching those in the PIK file already have to be on the board somewhere for this to work. For Protel99SE, you go to 'Tools>Auto Placement>Place from File' and select your PIK file. The designators and footprint names have to be the same for both the components to be relocated and those in the PIK file.

For DXP2004, it works the same except you go to 'Tools>Component Placement>Place from File' and select your PIK file.

Hey All

I know this issue has been up before, but my disk crashed and I lost all mail.

How to place components from a *.pik file? It does not seems to work.

Thanks for the answer, but this is what I have done on two different computers!
I have created the pik file from the design and have inside protel changed the mid x coordinate for one component.
Then doing what you write nothing happens.

I have 5 channels I like place like channel 1 but with other x coordinate, 1000 components, so I had hoped it worked for me.
