Hi All:

I've always used a green soldermask on my boards. This time they want a blue
color.

I remember seeing blue used on power boards - I wonder if it matters.

What would be the proper callout for a blue soldermask on the fab drawing or
would just putting blue solder mask be enough.

One fab house we use adds no surcharge for colors or finish, another does. The only practical consideration I've run into is that some surface finishes - eg ultramatte - promote solder balls during selective soldering. On getting this feedback from the stuffing house, I checked with fab for available solutions.
