thanks darren
but i assume it would be in theory possible (if they chose to do so) to
take the comment and put it into the file name comment attribute in the
windows file system
BTW why does windows not allow putting a comment for a directory (aka
'folder') as it does for files ?
it would very useful if it did

Hi Dennis,
The simple answer I believe is no. There maybe another way
to get the same function, but for what I can see you can't
have it like it was in 99SE.

question about AD (is this the proper term for the current version?)
in 99SE we have been putting comments in the description
fields for the
file names internal to the DDB
this is a great feature and many items contain vital info
which would be
a ton of work to track down and restore if lost
(right click on file, properties, put stuff in description, comments
show up in file listing on right)
so the question is, does AD preserve these comments in the DOS :) er,
wondoze, file name structure ?
