John,
How are you ever gonna know if you don't ask?
As Steve stated the solderpaste aperture is shaped like home base in
baseball. The triangular end reduces the amount of solderpaste deposited under
the metalized contact of the chip component. So for a simple chip component you
end up with two home base shaped apertures pointing towards each other.
Camtastic 2000DE has a tool for homeplating, it is under Tools, SMT
Utilities, Homebase Pad Conversion. Not perfect in it's operation, it
sometimes pulls some stupid little tricks on you like altering two pads that
weren't actually a component pair.
Sincerely,
Brad Velander

Hate to ask, but what is homeplating?
