Brad,
I haven't tried to transfer schematic files previously but I have
transferred PADs PCB files. Now, do you have DXP available because the
translator from PADs - DXP is much better than the one for P99SE. Then you can
save the file from DXP as version 4 for reading back into P99SE.

Harry was right in that the translator for P99SE will only read in PADs
version 3 or 3.5 ASCII files. Don't bother trying to read in an actual PCB file
unless it has been saved in the ASCII format. Even the translator for DXP/AD
will read newer file versions but they must still be ASCII format not the
binary format.

Even with P99SE I believe that the PADs importer may have been an
Add-on. I have a copy stored in my Protel Add-ons directory, either that or the
one that is stored (from before I started here) was an updated/improved
version. If you would like to give it a try, let me know and I will email it to
you.

Subject: [PEDA] PADS to PROTEL99SE translation.

I have a *.sch and a *.pcb file created with PADS (I do not know the version
of PADS and I do not have PADS).

If I try to import them I get the "Cannot open document. Document type is
unknown" message.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,

 Brad.
