the blank xls export is quite familiar to me

i wound up not using export, but rather hitting save 2-3 times
(i do use the DDB)
this creates files equal to the current one with names of 'backup of'
  'previous backup of'

i find it a bit easier than doing the export drill and they at least are 
not blank

oh, i wrote too soon, i see now that you are exporting sch to spread. 
and i was referring to exporting spreadsheet from DDB

i have never seen this error, maybe some library function they bought 
has timed out ?

try the DDB system, i have never had any trouble with it in hundreds of 
designs (well ok, make that very very little trouble)
