I don't know about using the Mantis. I tried using one
a while back, and it might have been something wrong
with the one we had, but I always had difficulty using
one it.  I you didn't keep everything positioned just
right the image disappeared.

I'm still a fan of the stereo microscopes.  Picked up
a Nikon with a big boom on eBay for $300 and it works
much better for me.
