That seems to sum up the behavior I'm seeing as well. I spent about an hour this morning uninstalling and reinstalling in various combinations of Service Packs and compatibility modes and could not get it to behave any better. Under SP2 (my only remaining install disc includes SP2 so I couldn't go any lower) it actually resets the advpcb.dft to the system default every time you close Protel. This was apparently fixed in one of the SP's between 2 and 6.
Back in 99 when I started using Protel it would work correctly. I don't remember when it stopped. Back then I ran it under Win 98 (terribly unstable) Win ME (traded one set of problems for another) and then NT4. Could be an OS thing too. It's a small bug, but really annoying when you do a lot of back and forth between the schematic and PCB... Anyway, thanks for the confirmation.
