Relative utilities, which provide a finite representation of infinite utility, give us a simple response to the mixed-strategies objection. The many-wagers model adds an evolutionary dynamics and a requirement of evolutionarily stable credences, which give us precise responses to versions of the many-gods objection. Oppy (2018) offers several interesting challenges to the idea that these two devices allow us to salvage Pascal’s argument. I shall show that the relative utilities/many-wagers model can answer Oppy’s challenges at least in part, and more importantly that it provides a fruitful framework for modeling and exploring “Pascalian” decision problems. Join us 5 minutes prior to the beginning of the session!
