Thanks to Terry for the mention of bold Popperian conjectures, I was wondering 
what is the difference between an abduction and a conjecture.

On the topic of the emergence of life on earth, one of Popper's admirers has an 
interesting paper to demonstrate the difference between the traditional method 
of inductivism and the conjectural/abductive approach.
