I, too, mourn David Gordon. I didn't know him very well and had 
some theoretical disagreements with him, but he was extremely 
friendly and helpful when I was interviewed for a job at the New 
School. I really wasn't ready enough for a job there -- and he 
told me in the best possible way. His comments also improved my 
dissertation. I also appreciated David's empirical work and his 
political work in educating trade unionists.
