To David:

We're past diminishing returns, and I'll be away for a couple of weeks
now. So real quickly:

1. Marx had a great many ideas about Capitalism and social science in
general, and much can be used even if you don't buy the notion that
capitalism blows up of its own accord (I don't). To push this farther
you're going to have to start reading Marx (see Norm's list discussion)
because you seem to have a very strange idea of what his thought
entailed. See Schumpeter's _Capitalism, Socialism, and Democracy_ for
one example of a conservative take on Marxian econ that finds much
useful.

2. You ignore my previous comments distinguishing between a Marxian and
Naderite-scold position, and repeat your previous, tendentious post
imputing a spurious argument to "the left." Personally, I like cars and
wish everyone could have one. They're extremely convenient. I hate
waiting for buses. To repeat: The Marxian criticism has *is completely
independent* of any "moral judgment" on what people should consume.
Marxism is a *systemic* critique at a social, and ideally international,
level.

Best, Colin
